Computer parts and digital literacy for kids
Digital literacy includes understanding the tools behind the screen. Explore a simple computer component model, then connect each part to a job. This is an introduction to computer hardware and systems thinking.
Open this moduleWhat you will practise
- Distinguish a processor, working memory and storage.
- Identify common input and output devices.
- Describe an input–process–output example from a classroom task.
Read each lesson, use browser-supported text-to-speech if it helps, then check your understanding with a short exercise. Use the feedback to revisit an idea and try again.
This introductory module is available to signed-in learners aged 10–16. Older age divisions receive extension prompts. It is enrichment content awaiting Zimbabwe curriculum mapping and teacher review.

Parts with a purpose
A computer has different components with different jobs. The processor carries out instructions. Memory, often called RAM, holds working information while programs run. Storage keeps files beyond the current session. These are different functions.
